Events Production Stage Manager

The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, Gallow Green, Manderley Bar, and The Club Car is seeking an Event Production Stage Manager. The Event Production Stage Manager is responsible for organizing and overseeing the overall workshops, rehearsal, set up, run, and break down of the Halloween and New Years Eve 2023 events as well as the safety of performers and stage managers. A successful Production Stage Manager will be a team player, detail oriented, be able to think quickly, remain calm in stressful situations, possess a strong work ethic, be able to project ahead and plan for future needs, and confidently lead the cast and a team of stage managers. The production stage manager must work with various departments within the building to ensure a proper and safe execution of the event. There is potential for future events PSM positions if interested.

We are seeking someone who is a true self-starter, a multi-tasker, and someone able to prioritize responsibilities. Candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, possess and exhibit empathy, exude a good sense of humor, and a track record of on-their-feet problem solving. Candidates must be proactive and possess clear communication skills and the ability to be a team player. Experience in immersive theatre and events a major plus.

Responsibilities:

– Work with the Creative Team to organize and execute workshops related to party creation and choreography.

– Attend regular production meetings for the Halloween and New Years Eve 2023 events

– Serve as the point of contact for production departments on event related changes, matters and issues

– Manage a team of stage managers to execute rehearsal and party run tasks necessary for the success of the performance

– With advisement from the Production Management team, advise on safety checks and protocols for direct reports

– Create and maintain party related paperwork

– Distribution of pre-event Performer and Event Stage Management memos

– Event Stage Management and Performer payroll

– Disseminate and distribute a list of notes for rehearsal and performance reports

– Work with Creative and Production Management teams to create rehearsal schedules and plans

– Be able to respond to performer and staff injuries and first aid needs

– Organize rehearsals to ensure rehearsal needs are met and properly staffed.

– Collaborating with Creative and Production Management teams to solve for unusual circumstances that require rehearsal, tech, or performance adjustments

Environmental Factors:

*Can complete responsibilities and duties under the following conditions, when working in show conditions*

– Strobing lights

– Continuous, large quantities of haze

– Minimal to no lighting

– Loud music and effects

– Multiple flights of stairs unaided by an elevator

Qualifications:

– Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field preferred

– 3+ years of theatrical experience in a leadership role

– Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

– Ability to create and maintain paperwork

– Must be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted
